When I brought Bubbles into the classroom, the other kids gasped. Mr Licorice was not impressed at first. When I started my talk though, he sat down and I’m pretty sure he managed a slight smile on his face. I knew my stuff! The other kids took turns as they asked questions. I did it! I found a way to incorporate my life into normal society without looking like a freak! But of course, I had to ruin it by taking it one step too far …

You see my bright idea for raising the money needed for the vet, was to do pony rides at lunch time before Uncle Stan came to pick her up. Bradley gathered a heap of kids, (mostly girls with huge crushes on him) and the money was piling up! $10 bought you a ride around C block and the pleasure of Bradley helping you on and off the pony. It was all going so well, until Holly saw what we were doing. At first she seemed really sweet. “I’m so sorry for the other day. Truce?”

I agreed.

“Can I give her my carrot?” she asked, seemingly innocent and clutching her diamanté lunchbox.

I nodded, Bubbles was nuts for carrots. “Okay thanks” she opened her lunchbox with her back to us, fed Bubbles and scurried off laughing. It was a weird thing to do, but I just thought she was easily amused. How wrong I was. As I continued the pony rides, something was clearly wrong with Bubbles.
